The Second Image

Venue: Museu Serralves | www.serralves.pt

Curator: Ricardo Nicolau
Production: Fundação de Serralves and SONAE

The second edition of the Sonae/Serralves Project invited Patricia Dauder (Barcelona, 1973) and Carlos Bunga (Porto, 1976).
In the course of a residency in Porto, both artists produced original works that will be displayed at the restaurant and entrance hall of the Museum.

The catalan artist drew a large panel that will remain on display for 12 months in which, resorting only to the possibilities of graphite, she added landscape to the privileged vista of the Serralves Park that visitors may enjoy through the restaurant windows. Aside from this large-scale drawing, a selection of works will be featured in the Multipurpose Room, allowing the portuguese public to confront her work for the first time and discover the various aspects of her artistic practice. Best known for her abstract drawings, which are simultaneously abstract, rigorous and organic, there will be a small exhibition including the artist’s drawings, paintings, sculptures and a film, — media which Patricia Dauder frequently works in —which will provide a background context for the museum’s visitors.*
