Surfers is a Super 8 film, portraying a group of surfers on the sea in one steady single long shot. Aesthetically, it reminds of certain compositions I created on drawings: a big space spreading over most of the frame and some scattered dots within this space. This film shows, in a short-time lapse, the surfers moving to and from the sea, awaiting the wave drive. Their movements depending on those of nature, manifesting itself with imposing force. It is both a physical and spiritual scene, an archetypical image widely represented in art history: man in front of nature.
